What is Niacinamide and why does it work?
Niacinamide is an active form of vitamin B3 (niacin). It is one of the most researched ingredients in skincare because it addresses multiple skin concerns simultaneously: it reduces hyperpigmentation, minimizes enlarged pores, regulates sebum production, strengthens the skin barrier, and reduces redness. 5% is the optimal concentration — higher concentrations do not provide more effect but increase the chance of irritation.
What percentage of Niacinamide does this product contain?
This product contains 5% Niacinamide — a clinically effective yet gentle concentration suitable for daily use. Some products claim 10% or even 20%, but research shows that the effect does not increase above 5% — only the risk of irritation rises.
Why does this product contain alcohol?
The alcohol functions as a natural preservative to keep the product stable, and has a mild purifying effect suitable for combination or oily skin. However, for very dry or reactive skin, this might be too much. In that case, we recommend our Double Hydration Boost Gel + HA as an alcohol-free alternative for light hydration.
Which skin types is this best for?
For combination, normal, or slightly oily skin looking for light hydration without a heavy cream. Suitable for men who want a minimalist routine and for those who like a gel texture under makeup. Dry or very sensitive skin would be better off with our richer creams (Anti-Age Day Cream or Sensitive Overnight Cream).
Can I combine this with other active ingredients?
Yes, Niacinamide is one of the most combinable actives. It works synergistically with Vitamin C (in the morning) — research shows that the combination of Niacinamide + Vitamin C is extra effective against hyperpigmentation. Also combinable with retinol or retinol alternatives, AHAs, and hyaluronic acid. No risk of interaction.
When will I see results?
Hydration and skin comfort are often noticeable after one week. For visible results on pores and sebum production: 3 to 4 weeks. For hyperpigmentation reduction: 6 to 8 weeks of consistent use.
Is this suitable under makeup?
Yes, ideal. The gel texture absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy or sticky residue. Wait 1 minute after application before applying foundation. Works beautifully as a base for concealer and foundation, especially on combination skin.
