The story behind Mayteo
"It started with an apple seed in my mother's flowerpot. I thought: this isn't going to do anything. Months later, there was a small tree."
I am Michaël, father of Maya and Matteo (and Luna in November), and not a skin expert in the traditional sense. However, I am someone who started turning over every label since the birth of his children. Mayteo is my answer: products for which I can explain every ingredient, to you and to my own children.

This is not a call to empty your cupboards. If you didn't know, you couldn't have changed anything about it. And products that comply with European law are safe for your skin; that is not what this is about. It is about the fact that you can know. That is why we always show the full list of ingredients, explain what a certification does and does not mean, and say so when we cannot prove something. So that you can judge for yourself instead of having to take our word for it. And if that gives you peace of mind, then we have done our job well.

Retinol, and what you can do if it's not for you
Retinol is the most thoroughly researched ingredient for visible skin aging, but it is not for everyone. It requires months of patience, an adjustment period that not everyone gets through, and it is discouraged during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you belong to the group for whom it does not work, a plant-based alternative is a reasonable choice. Not because it demonstrably does the same thing, but because it does do something, was better tolerated in research, and you can stick with it. And a product you stick with beats a product that stays half-full in the cupboard.
